Niccolò Falcioni Villani

Niccolò Falcioni Villani, aka SoftwareBoy (born 2001, Rome) is an artist and designer living in Tokyo. His work moves between the digital and the physical: characters and objects born as 3D models become collectible toys, sculptures, masks and fashion pieces, from the XBoys series to SoftwareMoko.

Full biography

SoftwareBoy grew up in the countryside outside Rome, between video games and computers, and studied computer science, electronics and robotics. During the 2020 lockdown he taught himself 3D and started recreating clothing digitally, posting his experiments on Instagram.

Brands soon asked for his 3D animations: he has since worked with more than 120 brands and creators, including Adidas, Foot Locker, Dolce & Gabbana, Pleasures, Advisory Board Crystals, Psychworld, Quincy and Denzel Dion.

In 2021 he co-founded SushiSwag, the first NFT streetwear brand: its first piece, released for 0.1 ETH, was resold for 50 ETH. In 2022 he released XBoys, a new unique digital toy every week, now also produced as 30–35 cm sculptures (XBoys Dimensional).

His work has been featured in Highsnobiety, Forbes, Outpump and NSS, shown in Istanbul, Rome and Paris, and he has spoken about digital art for Hogan in Milan. He has travelled to 42 countries so far.

In 2019 he founded Studio Software, the design and production studio that turns his and other people's ideas into finished objects.
